If you're craving a variety-packed plate with classic Chinese flavors, Waimalu Chop Suey's special plate is sure to satisfy. The Beef Broccoli Chow Mein was flavorful, with tender beef slices and perfectly cooked broccoli mixed into nicely seasoned noodles, offering a great balance of texture and taste. The Pot Roast Pork stood out for its rich, savory flavor with tender pieces of pork that practically melt in your mouth. The Sweet & Sour Spareribs delivered that quintessential tangy-sweet punch, though some might prefer them slightly more tender. Crispy Gau Gee was a nice crispy surprise--perfectly fried with a satisfying crunch, though it could have used a bit more filling. The Fried Shrimp had a golden, crispy coating, with the shrimp remaining juicy and flavorful. Lastly, the Fried Rice rounded out the meal, providing a hearty base that was packed with subtle yet satisfying flavors. Altogether, this special plate was a delightful mix of textures and classic Cantonese flavors--perfect for anyone looking to indulge in a variety of dishes.

We held a Luncheon there for 55 customers which we took 7 tables you can BYOB, the biggest problem was a group that large it was hard for the late arrivals to find parking spaces, so it is better to go early to make sure you can get parking. They are known for the largest Crispy Gau gee which is packed full with meat, which came out nice and crispy and hot. The noodles and fried rice came on last so there was a lot left over because everyone was eating the other dishes, so better to inform the waitress that you want the fried rice and noodles first before the other dishes. The beef broccoli was fresh and the meat was tender with a nice oyster sauce. The shrimp and broccoli were good, but should have gotten shrimp with vegetables instead. The cashew and fried tofu with vegetables was okay. The Chinese chicken salad was good the dressing is on the light side and the shredded chicken was flavorful. Fried rice was good but should have brought it out earlier. Crispy chicken with won ton was very tasty and flavorful, but if you are on a low sodium diet don't order it or let them know little or low salt. Service for items like chop sticks, Shoyu, Sauce dish, mustard or chili sauce you might have to get your own or you will be waiting for a while. They only have 1 toilet, because they haven't fixed the other restroom that has been broken for a while, make sure to lock the door when using. For groups or large party they charge automatically 18 percent tip. They do accept charge, cash

Affordable and tasty for a well established Chinese restaurant in the Waimalu area of Aiea. Takeout is always busy. Dine in can easily accommodate a party of 10-12. The wait staff understands English well so don't be afraid to describe what you like if you don't recall the name of the dishes This is one on my favorite Chinese restaurants to frequent when I'm looking for a bowl of wonton saimen

Stopped by for Beef Broccoli Cake Noodles. I didn't even realize the prices have gone up since the August menu I had. Otherwise, I would have gotten the most current menu. Can't keep up with the prices at this chop suey now since it's being raised more than usual. Still, reasonable for the generous amount. My Beef Broccoli Cake Noodles was the first time trying it. I must say it was very tasty. I'd order that again. One thing about Waimalu Chop Suey is someone will always walk up to greet you when you walk in. They are attentive and not preoccupied.

Had a hankering for Chinese food tonight and decided to try this place. We normally go to Golden Wheel in Aiea but wanted to try this place again. Ordered some favorites that we normally order at that other place: Charsiu Fried Rice, Stuffed Eggplant, and Kau Yuk. Also added the Lemon Chicken, Shrimp Canton, and the Salt & Pepper Fish. Fried Rice- typical & Tasty Eggplant - appeared to be deep dried first, then stir-fried with the black bean sauce. "GW" does it better, but it was good. Kau Yuk - meat was tender and soft, but the sauce wasn't cooked in as much as I like. It was a good dish though Lemon Chicken - very tasty and, of course, the sauce it everything. Chicken was crispy and not saturated (soggy). Would order again Shrimp Canton - not my favorite. Way too much breading. Ate 3 then stopped as it was making me full. Salt & Pepper Fish - Best dish for me. Fish was crispy and very tasty. Loved it. Although the restaurant was slammed with walk-in and phone orders, they were still very attentive to their eat-in diners. The food also came out pretty quick, making me think they prioritize the sit-down diners first. Overall, I would go again just to try out other things on the menu. I want to try the Salt & Pepper Shrimp and the Wu Xie Ribs the next time we go.
